Protection of avatarsI am contacted sometimes through our support page by people who are asking what can they do to protect their personal pictures and Yahoo avatar’s, because some people with bad intentions are stealing these avatars or pictures, and then post them on ids similar to their own, and try to contact friends and people who they know in order to make them look bad.

Avatar protection is impossible as long as every avatar is public someone knows your id, on the other hand personal pictures can be protected. Most often personal photos and even your Yahoo password are stolen from the victim’s computer, because this has no protection against viruses. The good news is that pictures can be protected.

As a first solution, I recommend that everybody should install an antivirus software, antimalware and a firewall, and most importantly DO NOT CLICK on suspicious links that came via email or messenger. This way you don’t have to worry, because no one can enter in your PC without your prior approval. Avoid clicking on suspicious links, even if they come from people whom you may know, because their computer can also be infected and can send you a virus, without your friend even knowing it. This way your pictures on your computer, as well as your messenger password are protected.

If you are considering deleting your avatar or restoring your avatar we recommend reading the dedicated articles.
